To apply for a program, fill out the intake form and send back including a completed medical form. Once all forms are received, a counsellor will be in touch with you.
Successful completion of the program provides individuals with increased self-esteem, decrease or discontinuation of drugs and alcohol use as self medication, self-reported improvement in the overall quality of their lives, and a significant decrease in physical ailments and physiological effects of stress.
A Safe & Supportive Environment
Sexual Abuse Survivors is a seven day program designed to provide a safe, supportive environment in which clients will examine the impact sexual abuse has had on their lives physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
It takes a look at statistics and information regarding sexual abuse in the dominant society and First Nations communities, develops a historical “map” of abuse in your family of origin, examines how sexual abuse scars our childhood and how it affects us as adults, and how it impacts us as individuals, in our relationships, families, and communities.
It also looks at the roles we play – victim, survivor, etc., the effects abuse has on our children and the cycle of abuse, understanding the need to move on and go beyond the abuse, and accepting the past and building a future on our own terms. It treats healing as a lifelong process, including maintaining support systems and aftercare plans.
